MISSION

Display and Declare the Gospel

We want our people to have two things: a worn-out Bible from always being in the Scriptures and a worn-out dinner table from consistently doing life with people in the city.

The G.O.S.P.E.L. Plan summarizes our strategy to display and declare the gospel.

GOSPEL-CENTERED DISCIPLESHIP

The last commandment of Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20) must be the first priority of the church. Redemption City’s first priority is to fulfill the Great Commission by making disciples of Jesus Christ. We do this through corporate worship gatherings, gospel communities, and stoop groups.

ORPHAN CARE

The scriptures tell us that true religion is to care for widows and orphans (James 1:27). Our church members make it a priority to foster, adopt, and care for the orphan both domestic and abroad.

SOCIAL JUSTICE

Jesus cares for all people, but he is especially close to the poor, contrite, suffering, and needy (Luke 14:12-14). And he promises to one day return and restore justice to the world. While we wait for his return we go out of our way to meet tangible needs and preach good news to those who are less fortunate. Our church members love our city through hospitality, generous giving, local service, and advocating for the ‘least of these’ in the public square.

PLANTING CHURCHES

Redemption City Church isn’t just about Redemption City Church. Our purpose is to declare the glory of God to the nations (Psalm 96:3). We think this is best done through the planting of new churches throughout the world. We develop and train church planting teams through RCC Institute, our leadership development program. We believe we should send our best so the gospel can be preached in unreached places.

EVANGELISM

We talk about the things we love. We believe that when our church is in awe of the gospel we can't help but to share this good news with our friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors. Every member of RCC is called to share this good news with those around them. This primarily happens organically through ordinary people doing ordinary things with gospel intentionality.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

If we’re going to plant more churches and grow we need more leaders! We go out of our way to train new leaders who can then teach the gospel to others (2 Timothy 2:2). We do this through our 5 step leadership development process:
1. I do, you watch
2. I do, you help
3. You do, I help
4. You do, I watch
5. You do, someone else watches

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Redemption City stands with the historic Christian faith of the early apostolic church. In so doing, our covenant members affirm and hold to these essential, core beliefs.

THERE IS ONE TRIUNE GOD

There is only one true and living God who is the Creator of the universe. He exists eternally in three Persons – the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

THE BIBLE IS GOD’S WORD

The Bible is God’s written revelation of Himself to mankind divinely given through human authors who were inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is entirely true, totally sufficient, and completely authoritative for matters of life and faith.

PEOPLE ARE CREATED IN GOD’S IMAGE

Human Beings are created by God to bear His image. They are the crowning work of His creation worthy of love, dignity, and respect regardless of matters like age, race, gender, or class.

PEOPLE ARE IN NEED OF REDEMPTION

Because of the Fall, the image of God in people is distorted but not lost. All people have disobeyed God willfully through sin; thus inheriting both physical and spiritual death and the need for redemption. All human beings are born with a sin nature and into an environment inclined toward sin. Only by the grace of God through Jesus Christ can they experience salvation.

JESUS IS BOTH LORD & CHRIST

Jesus is both fully God and fully human. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the Cross as a substitute for mankind, was raised from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will one day return to establish his kingdom’s reign.

JESUS IS THE ONLY PATH TO SALVATION

Salvation comes only through Jesus Christ, the only mediator between God and man. No other religion, belief, or person can reconcile God and man. He alone can provide forgiveness and eternal salvation.

SALVATION IS BY FAITH ALONE

Salvation comes only through a faith relationship with Jesus Christ, the Savior, as a person repents of sin and receives Christ’s forgiveness and eternal life. Salvation is instantaneous and accomplished solely by the power of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God. This salvation is wholly of God by grace on the basis of Christ’s life, death and resurrection, not on the basis of human works. All the redeemed are secured in Christ forever.

THE CHURCH IS CHRIST’S BODY

The Holy Spirit immediately places all people who put their faith in Jesus Christ into one united spiritual body, the Church, of which Christ is the head.

JESUS CHRIST WILL RETURN

God will bring the world to its appropriate end in His own time and in His own way. At that time, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth. Christ willjudge both the saved and unsaved. Those who have trusted Christ will receive a glorified body and dwell forever with the Lord. Those who have not trusted in Christ will spend eternity in hell, separated from God.
