WORSHIP DIRECTOR

Type: Full-Time, Salaried, Clergy

Responsibilities: 

The Worship Director will be responsible for the music and media ministry at Redemption City Church (RCC). In collaboration with the pastors, the worship director is tasked with planning, preparing for, and leading weekly and periodic worship services that connect to RCC's diverse culture, promote authentic worship, and proclaim the uncompromised message of the gospel.

Worship Service Preparation & Execution

  1. Direct rehearsals as necessary to achieve excellence in worship and media, allowing time for the team to master the music and technology.

  2. Prayerfully develop weekly and other special liturgies in coordination with the pastors and effectively communicate them in advance to serve team members. 

  3. Schedule music and media serve teams in Planning Center online with sufficient notice.

  4. Ensure that the stage, lighting, sound, video, and presentation software are working correctly and ready for each service.

  5. Ensure that all elements of the service and liturgy are ready, including but not limited to printed materials, sermon slides, worship slides, special presentations, and videos.

  6. Lead the congregation in worship and train and develop others to do the same.

Leadership Development

  1. Recruit, lead, and develop music and media worship teams.

  2. Prepare and lead servant leaders to fulfill the requirements of their positions.

  3. Raise and develop interns and residents to prepare leaders to stay or go.

  4. Recruit, lead, and develop ministry area leads to lead in areas like scheduling serve team members, catalyzing special events, and organizing teams.

  5. Oversee musical direction as you develop others to lead worship.

  6. Provide individual encouragement and guidance on skill development as needed. 

  7. Set the music and media serve teams' direction, mission, and goals in concert with RCC's vision, mission, and values.

General Responsibilities

  1. Maintain proper licensing and song archives.

  2. Oversee and lead in upgrades and changes to the stage, sound, lighting, video, and general worship space.

  3. Oversee the design of the stage to exemplify professional excellence and remain in context to the current sermon series, event, or season.

  4. Communicate with serve team members, staff, and membership effectively and regularly.

  5. Develop a yearly operating and capital budget and follow financial guidelines for purchases.

  6. Be creative and innovative in producing RCC Worship.

  7. Oversee AV media content creation and distribution, working with other creative serve teams and staff. 

  8. Remain current with current technology and ensure the ministry's forward motion.

  9. Oversee a team that monitors, maintains, and optimizes technical systems and infrastructure that support Sunday worship services: audio, video, lighting, streaming, internet network, intranet network, and overflow spaces.

Personal Staff Responsibilities 

  1. Know the RCC vision, mission, and values and work to maintain and build a gospel-centered culture at all times.

  2. Work with a coach to regularly set, monitor, and meet vision goals.

  3. Pray for RCC, staff, serve teams, and members.

  4. Maintain work/life balance as agreed with your pastor coach and participate in personal development.

  5. Worship leader and their family engage completely as vibrant covenant members.

  6. Participate in regular staff meetings and rhythms (weekly staff meeting, weekly coaching meeting, yearly staff retreat, etc.)

Compensation

  • This is an exempt position.

  • Compensation is commensurate with experience and responsibility.
